Microneedling

A minimally invasive treatment that creates tiny micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Improves skin texture, tone, scarring, and fine lines.

$250–$450 per session

About This Treatment

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, harnesses your body's natural healing ability to rejuvenate your skin from the inside out. During treatment, a professional-grade device equipped with fine, sterile needles creates thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger a cascade of healing responses — including the production of new collagen and elastin fibers — that result in smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.

At Lodi MedSpa, we use FDA-cleared microneedling devices that allow your provider to precisely control the needle depth (0.25mm to 2.5mm or deeper) based on the treatment area and your specific concerns. Shallower depths are used for overall skin rejuvenation and product absorption enhancement, while deeper needle settings target acne scarring, stretch marks, and deep wrinkles. A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment for comfort, and the procedure typically takes 45-60 minutes.

One of microneedling's greatest strengths is its versatility and safety across all skin types. Unlike certain laser treatments that carry a risk of hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones, microneedling works through mechanical stimulation rather than heat or light energy. This makes it safe and effective for patients of all ethnic backgrounds and skin tones — a significant advantage in our diverse Lodi community.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skin concerns does microneedling treat?
Microneedling effectively treats acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and overall skin dullness. It works by creating controlled micro-injuries that trigger your skin's natural healing response, boosting collagen and elastin production.
How many microneedling sessions do I need?
For general skin rejuvenation, most patients see excellent results after 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. For deeper concerns like acne scarring, 4-6 sessions may be recommended. Your provider will assess your skin and create a customized treatment plan during your consultation.
What does microneedling feel like?
A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, so most patients experience only a mild scratching or vibrating sensation. The procedure is well-tolerated by the vast majority of patients. After treatment, your skin may feel warm and tight, similar to a mild sunburn.
Can I wear makeup after microneedling?
We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours after microneedling to allow the micro-channels to close and reduce the risk of irritation or infection. After 24 hours, you can resume your normal skincare routine. Your provider will give you specific post-treatment product recommendations.
Is microneedling safe for all skin types?
Yes. One of the major advantages of microneedling over laser treatments is that it is safe for all skin types and tones, including darker skin that may be at higher risk for hyperpigmentation with certain laser procedures. Your provider will customize the needle depth and settings for your specific skin type.
